I made in Finland two presentations:
1. "APL centric data processing world or Dyalog APL+MatLab+R cooperative
calculations" and
2. "A+ as a powerful development platform for Linux".
Adrian Smith who wrote notes in Vector mixed the two above.
For Dyalog APL/Windows I use DCOM server of R and it was pretty easy.
R has published C interface to be called from other languages. And it is
called,
for instance, from Python. I think it may be done for A+ with use of the c
context.
But it needs somebody more clever than me (I never used C).

If you use Dyalog APL, then I will send you my workspace. "rexec" is one of
4 functions to
perform communication.
As for R it's my own dream and now I know than there are two of us:-)

It was the topic of my second presentation. I agree with your "even more
interesting" totally.
I only would like to add to 64-bit more and more wide acceptance of Linux in
corporate world.
My team uses A+ intensively for the scientific computing. What we need to
"actively develop systems" is _customers_.
