beamOut in out.m i 3

If the file contained the long data 1 2 3 4 and you wanted a 2 rows by 2
columns

beamOut in out.m i 2 2

The utility doesn't perform any conversion of the data, it just adds the
A+ header to describe the type, rank, and shape.  If you specify i or f
the the file should contain long or double data.
