Thanks for the quick reply. I was assuming gcc since the source
is available under the GNU license. I appreciate your pointers and
comments re problems with initialization of static data members. Are
you using AIX 4.4 or 5?

Hi Blake,

Which compiler will you be using? Internally we used to build for AIX
using XLc (3.25 and 4.1) . If you look in a/s.c you will see the define
HPC_PWR2 (also see a/pwr2hpc.h), which covers optimizations specifically
for the power architecture. It shouldn't be too difficult to get this
running.

Most recently we have been building A+ on AIX using gcc.  We have it
compiled, but have problems on startup with initialization of static data
members.  We suspect it is a problem with the link and are working with
IBM to get it resolved.
